About IPP
The Institute of Payroll Professionals (IPP) was established as an official industry body in 1980.

Mission Statement
To raise the contribution of payroll professionals to organisations by:

  • Improving technical skills and practical experience
  • Working with government to ensure practical implementation of relevant legislation
  • Promoting highest standards of professional conduct

Representation
The views of the Institute are sought and valued by Government departments and other organisations, as witnessed by its representation on bodies ranging from the HM Revenue and Customs Umbrella Group on Employee/Employer issues to the British Computer Society Payroll Specialist Group.

The Institute operates an Advisory Service staffed by professionals able to provide accurate and authoritative advice on a wide range of topics. It also runs National and Regional Meetings which allow members direct contact with representatives from HM Revenue and Customs and other relevant bodies and also provides a forum for members' input and feedback on Institute policies.

Education
On the education side, the Institute validates and controls a wide range of professional qualifications in both the Payroll and Pensions sectors. IPP delivers the qualifications and provides tutors at officially recognised standards. IPP also runs a comprehensive range of short training courses throughout the UK and a series of conferences culminating in the Annual Conference and Awards Ceremony.

Consultancy
IPP Consult is a further arm of the education side of the organisation. The Consultancy side of the Institute offers a wide range of services from Outsourcing, through Project Management to Risk Assessments and New Payroll/HR systems.

National Payroll Week
National Payroll Week runs annually and is dedicated to the unsung heroes of the Payroll profession. It aims to raise their profile with Government and industry in general.
