 Purchasing Coordinator

Reports to (Title): Purchasing Manager                                                                                                
 
Summary of Position
 
They will support the Purchasing Manager in developing and implementing a range of strategic and tactical objectives to the best cost benefit possible. This will include developing mutually beneficial supply partnerships and managing low cost sourcing initiatives.
 
Their main role will be that of managing the tactical purchasing decisions of their own select range of suppliers and those of the Purchasing Assistants. In addition they will support the Purchasing Manager on Strategic Sourcing Projects with the view that in the future they will manage their own strategic sourcing projects
They will be assigned responsibility for sourcing and purchasing raw materials for manufacture from the category A suppliers.   These include, but are not limited to the following: Far East Suppliers and Eastern European Suppliers.
 
They will also be responsible for managing a range of vendor managed / consignment stock agreements which are in place and will be involved in developing new agreements where there are opportunities to improve the on time delivery performance to our customers.
 
In addition they will develop supplier relationships, monitor vendor performance, and coordinate the supplier review program and work towards collective continuous improvement.
 
Purchasing Coordinator
 
They will be fundamental in moving the supply chain forward to ensure that we continue to have a proactive and not reactive supply chain.
 
The candidate will have a strong background in purchasing preferable in a manufacturing environment. 
They will have the ability to manage various stakeholders and be committed to delivering a high level of customer care. 
They will also have the desire and possess the attributes and skills necessary to become a Purchasing Manager in the future
 
 
Principal Accountabilities
 
1. Working with their own portfolio of suppliers to develop supplier relationships and identify opportunities for cost reductions.
 
2. Assist in the compilation of data to be used in Suppler Assessment programs and will coordinate the supplier review programs. 
 
3. Managing daily purchasing related issues raised by production.
 
4. Support the Purchasing Manager on Strategic Sourcing Projects
 
5. Will be responsible for  producing  monthly supplier analysis data
 
6. Raise purchase orders in  line with approved MRP  generated requirements for key suppliers
 
7. Reviewing and responding to Supplier acknowledgements
 
8. Timely resolution of invoice / delivery queries 
 
9. Managing the daily expedite and supplier delivery issues across the entire supplier base.
 
 
Experience and Training
 
This position reports to the Purchasing Manager
 
They will require excellent organizational and administration skills with experience of dealing with suppliers and high volume work loads.
 
Previous Purchasing experience is essential. Full CIPs accreditation would be preferred though people who have achieved Level 5 Advanced Diploma in Purchasing and Supply or who has Senior Experience in a Purchasing Role will also be considered.
 
Competence in IT is essential for this role including Microsoft Office packages and SAP would be advantageous. The ability to communicate at all levels internally and externally is essential.
