Position Summary

Responsible for the management accounting function to support the plant operation and commercial activities in the business.  A key member of the finance and business information team ensuring the accurate, timely and effective production of operational, commercial and financial information.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

·         Ensuring accurate and timely month end close, recording of the site inventory and completion of sales and stock reconciliations

·         Maintenance of the integrated business information system platform and development of the business intelligence project

·         Ensuring that product bill of materials are accurate and managed in a controlled way

·         Analysis of overhead costs, monthly sales and variances to budget/forecast, cost of production and operational variances, product P&L’s and financial commentary

·         Provision of costing support to the commercial team and analysis of customer profitability

·         Preparation of balance sheet reconciliations, the monthly management pack, quarterly forecasts and annual budgets as appropriate

·         Improving/developing financial systems and the business information required to support supply chain finance

·         Providing management accounting support to the site IT Administrator

·         Ensuring changes to supplier and customer database are adequately controlled

·         Assistance with year end/statutory returns and statistics and returns to external bodies

·         Ad hoc project work to support business initiatives

Key Skills & Abilities

·       Likely to be degree qualified, with at least CIMA stage 2 and two year’s experience in a finance/accounts function, ideally gained in a manufacturing/process industry environment 

·       Substantial experience of an integrated business system, ideally MFG/Pro, advantageous

·       Excellent IT skills, particularly Excel to include data downloads and manipulation techniques, familiarity with Powerplay would be an advantage

·       Good numeracy skills with an aptitude for dealing with and presenting data and information

·       Excellent time management and work prioritisation skills, able to work to strict deadlines

·       Good communication and interpersonal skills are essential with the ability to liaise at all levels and develop productive working relationships within a small team environment

·       A self motivated individual with the initiative to develop and improve existing systems,  manage his/her own workload effectively and work flexibly within the team
