MANAGEMENT ACCOUNTANT

Reporting to                                    FINANCE DIRECTOR 

Job Purpose                                   

TO MANAGE THE COMPANY'S ACCOUNTING FUNCTION PRODUCING REGULAR MANAGEMENT ACCOUNTS AND INFORMATION TO ENABLE THE MANAGEMENT TO BETTER MANAGE THE BUSINESS.  IN ADDITION, TO PRODUCE ANNUAL STATUTORY ACCOUNTS AND OTHER STATUTORY RETURNS WHILST ENSURING THE ACCURACY OF THE COMPANY'S LEDGERS.

Main Responsibilities: 

1. To ensure the integrity of the Company's ledgers and associated systems.                                          

2. To produce monthly management accounts forecasts and information monitoring the various aspects of the Company's performance within the specified timescales. 

3.  To produce statutory accounts. 

4.  To provide statutory returns for tax, VAT and other government departments. 

5.   To maintain a fixed asset register.

6.   To assist in the production and development of the Company's Business Plan and budgets. 

7.   To manage the Accounts Dept staff.

8.  To identify training needs within the department and make suitable recommendations for action.

9.   To seek improvements in the Company's information systems (manual and electronic).

10. To identify and evaluate areas for improvement of profit with particular regard to cost reductions and methodology.

11.  To ensure the Company's Quality procedures and Health & Safety Policy are adhered to within the department.

12.   To develop a culture of empowerment throughout the team ensuring that all employees take responsibility for the ongoing success of the Company. 

13.  To develop a customer focused approach to the internal client base.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Education/Qualification

Minimum                    Good standard of formal education

                                    Above average literacy and numeracy

                                    AAT or Part II CIMA/CACA/CA 

Desirable                   A level or HNC in related discipline

                                    ACMA/ACCA/ACA qualification

Previous Experience

Minimum                    Experience as a junior accountant in a Commercial environment, utilising computerised systems.

Desirable                   Experience in a supervisory position

                                    Construction experience

                                    Relevant experience dealing with staff at senior level
