Credit Controller 

Person Specification 

Excellent communication skills at all levels -  Candidates will be speaking to sole traders as well as multi million pound companies.  Within xxxxx it is expected that the elected person will be able to demonstrate effective communication skills between Depot Managers their staff, and the Sales Director. 

Proven experience            -           The appointed person will have previously demonstrated their capability to improve debt turn and to manage their ledger in an efficient and timely manner.  They will be expected to be numerate and have the ability to spot changes in spend on accounts and react to these observations. 

Personal Skills           -           Candidates will be required to prove that they are able to acquire new skills quickly after training. They must be able to demonstrate that they have a very high standard of accuracy.  They will be managing the accounts on a day to day basis so it is essential that they can demonstrate excellent organisational skills and time management skills. 

Background 

The Sales Ledger is split into 3 sections, with the bulk of the work on two of the sections.

There are approximately 300 live accounts to manage varying in size from below £100 to £170k+ average debt approx 10k.

Bulk invoices are produced weekly and vary in value and quantity over the accounts.   Some invoices are produced and transferred daily to accounts.

Debtor days across the ledger are approximately 85 days.

Current ledger balance approx. £3 million. 

Job Specification 

Knowledge of Daily Banking to two separate accounts, therefore accuracy and understanding is essential. 

Ensuring the cash book is totalled and maintained in a legible manner. 

Posting receipts to split ledger via manual cash book using Exchequer Enterprise accounting system. This to be done daily to enable weekly balancing of the ledger. 

Allocating cash accurately to accounts.

Weekly chasing of 7 day accounts. 

Ensuring all accounts are contacted for payment and queries during the month, and that follow up calls are made.

Managing accounts that are with our Agents for collection. 

Raising any manual invoices or credits during the month. 

Allocating Inter Company payment each month.

Ensuring all conversations and notes are logged to customer’s accounts so that others can see current situation.

Sending out Monthly Statements as directed by Office Manager.

Liaison with customers in all areas e.g. returns notes copy invoices etc.

Terms of Employment

This position is available on a 6 month contract based on 22.5 hours per week, preferably full days Monday Thursday and Friday 9am to 5pm 30 min break for lunch.

An element on flexibility is required on both sides.
