ACCOUNTING ASSISTANT

Reporting to the MANAGEMENT ACCOUNTANT 

Job Purpose                              

THE DAY TO DAY CONTROL AND OPERATION OF THE SECTIONS OF THE DEPARTMENT THEY ARE ASSIGNED TO.

MAINTAINING THE ACCURATELY AND  PROCESSING INFORMATION TO AGREED TIMETABLES.

Main Responsibilities:

1.                 To ensure the integrity of data being entered onto the accounts system

2.                 Resolving queries and problems delivering customer service to client satisfaction.

3.                 Maintain the bank record and reconcile to the bank statements.

4.                 Ensuring data is correctly coded in terms of Job Number and cost code.

5.                 Maintaining the necessary records to satisfy auditors/Government departments.

6.                 Assisting the other departments in obtaining their required financial information from the accounting system.

7.                 Ensuring they are sufficiently familiar with other sectors of Accounts to provide assistance and cover to their colleagues, where needed.

8.                 Providing cash flow forecasts as required.

9.                 To suggest areas for improvement of their own and accounts office procedures.

10.             To assist in release of accounting information from other departments as required.

11.             Maintain the fix asset register.

12.             Reconcile, analyse and prepare data as required

 To ensure records/data is accurate and produced in time.

To maximise supplier credit without causing disruption by suppliers.

 To keep abreast of technical developments affecting the department.

 To provide suggestions for improving accounts office function.

To have sufficient knowledge of accounting systems to be able to provide required information to other departments.
