PAYROLL ADMINISTRATOR AND ACCOUNTS CLERK

Reporting to                   FINANCIAL CONTROLLER

Job Purpose                  TO PROCESS ALL  PAYROLLS AND TO MAINTAIN THE LEDGERS ACCURATLEY AND PROCESS INFORMATION TO THE AGREED TIMETABLES

Main Responsibilities:

PAYROLL 

Process all Monthly Payroll and Pension documentation in an accurate and timely manner.

Assist the other departments in obtaining their required information from the payroll and personnel systems – providing reports.

Periodic reconciliation of ledgers for monthly paid employees and pensions.

To ensure the integrity of data being entered onto the accounts system.

Resolving queries and problems delivering customer service to client satisfaction.

Maintaining the necessary records to satisfy auditors/Government departments e.g. Inland Revenue information regarding new starters and leavers.

Ensuring the correct amount of NI and Tax is paid over for both monthly and weekly payrolls.

To suggest areas of improvement in respect of employment and accounts office procedures – Continuous Improvement Statement.

Computerised Absence Recording  – Sickness/Holidays

Pay Increases (monthly staff/pensions) tax code changes from notifications received.

PERSON SPECIFICATION 

Education/Qualification

Minimum                                       O level maths/english

                                                      Computer literate

Desirable                                     NVQ2 in Accounts 

Previous Experience

Minimum                                       Experience in accounts office environment

                                                      Exposure to payroll issues

Desirable                                 Experience in accounts office experience within the Construction Industry

                                                   Knowledge of wages

                                                      Knowledge/experience on SAGE

                                                      Spreadsheet ability

                                                      Word processing skills
