PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

To advise the General Manager on all financial, HR and IT matters relating to the company’s operations and to ensure that an effective accounting/ costing and IT organisation is maintained to provide the information required for planning and controlling the company’s operations, safeguarding the assets, discharging liabilities and fulfilling the company’s legal responsibilities

 

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

·       To ensure that the accounting function is properly staffed and managed, that proper accounting records and accounting controls are maintained and that the information required by the parent company for planning and controlling the operations, safeguarding assets, discharging liabilities and fulfilling the subsidiaries’ legal responsibilities is accurate and up to date

·       To ensure that the General Manager and all levels of management are provided with the information required for planning and controlling the company’s operations effectively and are kept aware in a systematic way of opportunities for cost reduction and profit improvement

·       To coordinate the preparation, evaluation and implementation of annual budgets

·       To maintain and improve the company’s standard costing system and, in conjunction with management, to ensure that costing standards are systematically updated at the agreed review dates

·       To ensure that up to date and accurate financial information is available for estimating, pricing and contract negotiation purposes. To assist as required in commercial negotiations

·       In conjunction with the Unit Manger to ensure that the company’s inventory records provide the information required for financial and cost accounting purposes.

·       To establish and review the credit worthiness of new and existing customers within the existing central credit procedures. To ensure that debts are settled in accordance with the company’s trading terms and that action is taken to recover any debts which are not paid promptly

·       To organise, staff and equip the accounting function to ensure that the overall accounting and management information requirements of the company are met at the minimum cost

·       To assist in negotiations with the company’s bankers and other financial advisers, to prepare regular cash flow forecast and to manage the company’s cash resources

·       To ensure that the company maintains an effective liaison at the appropriate level with government departments, local authorities, trade associations, auditors, taxation/legal advisers, other relevant bodies etc.

·       To keep the General Manager and management informed of new and proposed relevant legislation, EEC directives and government policy statements

·       To deal with all matters arising out of the company’s ownership and/or occupation of properties

·         To ensure that all forms of insurable risks are reviewed regularly and that adequate cover is arranged

·       To ensure the requested level of IT equipment and software for the company and monitoring the IT development on the market

·         To ensure the requested level of staff for the company

·         To ensure a good quality of reception area

·         To ensure best purchase (price/quality) for all goods (such as raw material, energy etc.)

 

 

AUTHORITY:

·       Employment and development of staff according to xxxx  competence matrix

·       Approve payments together with another management member within the xxx Group expenditure authority

·       To act within approved budget within Finance and Administration department

 CANDIDATE PROFILE

 

EXPERIENCE:

·       To have at least 1-3 years extensive and wide-ranging experience gained in a challenging environment as an accountant or auditor (preferably industry).

·       To have a high degree of commercial awareness and computer literacy of Microsoft Excel, Word for Windows, Accounting Systems, Costing Systems.

 

Qualifications:

·       To be qualified/finalist in a recognised accounting profession such as ……………… (what is normal for such a position in England???)

 

AGE: > 25 years old
